About 250 delegates representing SEIU 503 sub locals from all across Oregon gathered in Albany this week for the biennial General Council, which is the highest decision-making body of the state’s largest union. They discussed and adopted resolutions, heard about current successes and future goals, and were treated to a lively address by International President Mary Kay Henry, who told them how Oregon is leading on the public policy forefront.
SEIU 503 is out front again by backing Measure 85 on this November’s ballot, Henry noted, which is the initiative to divert corporate “kicker” funds to K-12 schools.
