In California last week and Illinois this week, warehouse workers are fighting for fair wages and safe working condition. Many workers have faced retaliation for speaking out, some, their wages were reduced and others fired. Wal-Mart workers have already gone through too much exploitation, disrespect and retaliation when workers speak up about these injustices.
Wal-Mart a giant corporation with giant profits is one of the main promoters of low wage jobs pushing their employees to depend on food stamps and other services covered with our taxes, while Wal-Mart takes billions of dollars to their pockets every year.
These workers need our support now more than ever, their struggle is our struggles.

The organizations supporting these workers on the ground are “Warehouse Workers United” in Southern California and “Warehouse Workers for Justice” in Illinois. They are dedicated to improving working conditions and ensuring that major retailers like Wal-Mart and its subcontractors follow the law and treat workers with respect. They stand for good jobs with decent wages, access to healthcare and other basic rights and benefits including a workplace free of intimidation and retaliation.
Here in our area Walmart is planning to introduce about 17 stores and we will fight them, there are people already organizing for it, do you want to get ivolved?. For more info on it call JwJ at 503 236-5573 or Bob with UFCW at 503 701-2636.
