Workers search for ‘missing’ Marion County Commissioners

Marion County Employees Association (MCEA) workers held a candlelight vigil Wednesday night, Oct. 3, outside the Salem home of Marion County Commissioner Janet Carlson in an attempt to locate her and get county leaders back to the bargaining table to reach a fair and equitable agreement.

The Marion County Commissioners have been missing from negotiations for more than six weeks. Despite having the resources to settle a fair contract, the Commissioners have decided to go into hiding from their employees.

Although the MCEA bargaining team has given the mediator a proposal showing considerable movement, the Marion County Commissioners are still missing in action and still refusing to talk with the workers who provide critical and essential county services for the residents of Marion County.

You can help by calling the Commissioners and encouraging them to return to the bargaining table and reach a fair agreement.
