University of Oregon classified employees delivered cookies, a performance by the UO labor choir, and hundreds of valentines to UO president Michael Gottfredson on February 14, asking him to work with OUS to settle a fair contract.

“Gottfredson made no commitments,” said Kurt Willcox, a member of the UO bargaining team, “but he was certainly in a light-hearted mood, tapping his fingers on the valentine box, tapping his feet while we sang, and offering two of us some of the cookies that we had delivered earlier. I’m not convinced that Gottfredson is taking us seriously enough yet, but he definitely knows that we’ve got some energy, creativity, and determination.”
