Adult Foster Home Providers Mobilize in Salem
Take Action on AFH Rule Making
On Friday, May 21st, SEIU Providers from around the state joined together to give testimony about rule changes proposed by the Department of Human Services (DHS). The proposed changes to Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) could result in many unintended consequences for Adult Foster Home Providers.
Much of this process has come about as a result of House Bill 2442.
The next public hearing on the rulemaking process is on Tuesday June 15th. Join with other providers in voicing our concerns over the proposed changes (see below for more details).
“I have attended all of the rules meetings as a representative of our union from the get-go. We were able to not only change a lot of the intended language, but also have some issues completely removed. The impact still remains large. Please review the new rules and tell your story.
“Many rules that govern our business are in actuality 'law.' I’ve been working with other providers through our union’s political department in helping to think about our legislative strategy for next year. We have found that some of the issues we would like to bargain over will take legislative action to change. We need to hear from you and have even more providers involved during next year’s Legislative session.”
