SEIU and Health Care for America NOW! Representatives to Rally, Sign "Declaration for Affordable Healthcare" at Congressman Greg Walden's Office
Medford - Members of Health Care for America NOW! and Service Employees International Union Local 503 from the Medford area will gather at Congressman Greg Walden's office in Medford Thursday (July 2) at 12:30 to sign the "Declaration for Affordable Healthcare" and present him with a list of grievances. The group will ask Congressman Walden to be a leader in fixing the broken healthcare system.
This event will be one of dozens nationwide organized by members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and other stakeholders in the healthcare system to call on Congress to make healthcare more affordable, give people the freedom to choose their coverage, and offer working people quality healthcare.
"It's time to declare independence from a healthcare system that too many working people can't count on. We need to fix our healthcare system so that every working American has the freedom to choose affordable care," said Kurt Kessler, SEIU 503 member and worker at the Department of Human Services in Medford.
Alberto Enrriquez, a member of Oregon Action, said: "What part of democracy doesn't Congress understand? Americans have overwhelmingly expressed our desire for the choice of a public health insurance plan. We'd like Congressman Walden to support the will of the people."
