DAS Member Overwhelmingly Ratify Contract!

Members of the DAS unit have overwhelmingly ratified a new two-year contract by an 88% margin. The agreement covers more than 18,000 DAS workers and provides health insurance coverage for more than 4,000 classified university workers. OUS workers will vote on other aspects of their contract later this month.

"We're pleased about the strong support for the contract and can now focus on making sure we protect public services by funding them fairly. That means supporting the legislature’s plan to increase revenue by asking the wealthy and large corporations to pay their fair share in the time of economic adversity," said Kermit Meling, a motor carrier enforcement officer who works for ODOT and serves as chair of the SEIU Local 503's bargaining team. "Starting now, our top priority is to make sure members and the public understand the need to vote YES in the January referral."
