Nursing Homes Focus of Nov. 19 Session

SEIU Local 503 will convene a Nursing Home Alliance conference Nov. 19 at the union's Portland office, giving all segments of Oregon's nursing home industry a chance to weigh in on ways to promote quality care.

The alliance, an amalgam of the state's more enlightened nursing homes and their unionized workforce, seeks to find ways to better serve residents and their families through cooperative action.

Workers, home administrators, organizers, nursing supervisors, legislators and consumer activists are expected to attend for part of the session from 9-3 at 6401 SE Foster Road.

Topics expected to be discussed include ways to market better quality union homes, opportunities to rally behind Measures 66 & 67 and other efforts maintain and improve care, and further opportunities for joint labor-management cooperation.
