  • MCEA contract ratified
    SEIU/MCEA members in Marion County voted to ratify their 2011-2012 contract. This was a tough year for bargaining, but the members who showed up to push for a fair deal on health insurance really made the difference.

    Bargaining our contract this year proved to be a difficult task.  Both sides, Union and Management, came to the table with only a few proposals but we were far apart on the core issues of pay and benefits.  After a long negotiation process lasting more than 7 months we are confident this is the best deal we would be able to reach and your Bargaining Team is recommending it be ratified.

    SEIU Local 503 members at the City of Tigard settled a new contract on May 27. They fought back a proposal that would have eliminated all bumping, and were able to preserve current seniority language.
