OSLP Reaches Agreement in Record Time!

OSLP Bargaining Team 07 Oct 11, 2006 - The Oregon Supported Living Program Bargaining team reached a tentative agreement with management Oct 11, 2005.

This round of negotiations with OSLP was very cooperative. We were able to reach an agreement in only four sessions
— including one session for ground rules only).

Contract highlights include:
  • Continuation of fully paid health care benefits.

  • A $0.45/ hour increase to the starting wage on 1/1/2006

  • $0.25/hour across the board wage increase for each subsequent step of the wage scale on 1/1/2006. This also includes a $0.25/hour increase for folks that are above the wage scale. This is the first COLA in six years for some workers.

  • A wage re-opener for the second year of the contract.

  • A yearly increase of $125 added to the yearly longevity bonus scale as of 1/1/2006. Bonuses begin at two years of seniority and continue every year thereafter with increases at five, seven and ten years. This represents an increase of more than 100% for the first step at two years and a 100% increase for the step at five years.

  • Also included is language that allows for a worker to take steps to return to their exact shifts after a leave of absence (previously only comparable hours were offered).

  • We won language that increases safety around cleaning chemicals and which chemicals are used.

  • We were able to get agreement on a Neutral Zone which allows a worker that is overly stressed on the job to be able to leave the work site to "re-center" themselves or vent without being deemed unprofessional or being subject to discipline.

  • Enhanced protection for relief pool employees .

  • Protection for workers in the event that there is a sudden loss of funding due to a resident's death or departure from the agency.

  • We also won a work out-of-class provision for workers assigned work duties in a higher paid classification.

  • We did lose a yearly personal day in exchange for the above economics, but the bargaining team is very enthusiastic about the gains.

  • As always, the Local 902 Bargaining team displayed great determination and style when presenting their arguments and reasons for needed changes.
