Healthy Kids: An Oregon Priority

This is a great week for Oregon's children. The Oregon Senate, House and Governor begin making good on a promise to put Health Care for Kids at the top of their agenda, which will guarantee secure and permanent health care for every child in Oregon.

Oregon’s Kids Can’t Wait.

The 117,000 Oregon children who don't have health coverage don't receive the preventive care and are more likely to end up in emergency rooms. We all pay the costs in the form of higher insurance premiums. The Healthy Kids Initiative is a fair and accountable way to provide the care Oregon kids need.

May 29, 2007:  the Oregon Senate will hold a hearing on a referral to the voters to increase the state cigarette tax to pay for the Healthy Kids Plan.
