Raise Your Voice. You have a story to tell and a role to play. Front-line workers led the fight and made the difference.
Our union is an issue-based organization in a very partisan political setting. Workers lobby Democrats and Republicans; Republican legislators faced a tough challenge this session.
This session the Governor came through for us. He signed Executive Orders recognizing the right to organize for 12,000 child care providers and 3,700 adult foster care providers.

Our contract victories started when we worked to elect pro-worker legislators. Members lobbied hard for adequate funding for contracts. The work electing pro-worker legislators and lobbying paid off: workers won wage increases and health care.
The 2007 Legislature gave workers a voice at work with bargaining rights for child care workers and adult foster care workers, and new legislation allowing public employees to form unions through majority sign-up.
Legislators were graded on their support for SEIU issues. Higher grades were given for introducing bills, testifying in support, and pushing fellow legislators.

Care providers fought hard for improved quality of care for their clients and improved working conditions. In the end they made their voices heard.
OUS workers saw huge gains. Our workers' fight for improvements to facilities and staffing resulted in changes that will bolster our public universities.

Eastern OR Training Center
The Eastern Oregon Training Center is a residential facility in Pendleton for 40 adults with severe disabilities. Members are proud of the impact on their patients’ lives and the benefit to their community.
High-interest loans devastate low-income families. Payday loans, gouging consumers with 500% interest, have trapped working families into spiraling and sometimes inescapable debt.
Legislative leadership set the tone for health care issues. Six committees were established to focus on various aspects of health care. Two discussions rose to the top.
