Who we are: University of Oregon Local 085

OUR UNIONThere are approximately 1400 classified employees at the University of Oregon represented by the Service Employees International Union Local 085. Our mother union is SEIU Local 503, which spans the entire state; and our collective bargaining agreement is with the Oregon University System.

OUR MEMBERSOur union is comprised of various types of employees:  library technicians, accountants, custodians, trades maintenance workers, cooks, office specialists, public safety officers, groundskeepers, nurses, information technologists and more.

OUR PURPOSEUnion leadership at the U.O. is known for its steady commitment to the rights and needs of working people, steward representation, a well-established CAT (contract action team) structure and maintaining coalition relationships with other unions and labor-friendly groups on our campus and in the larger community.

OUR SITEThis site offers the visitor a glimpse into the activities, issues and news of our union. If you are among the SEIU-represented employees of the University of Oregon, this will hopefully inspire you to become a member if you are not, encourage you to volunteer to help out if you never have or just make you feel better about being represented by a union.
